TRAVIS — Firefighters battled a large brush fire on a dead end street in Travis early Sunday afternoon.
The fire call, which went to a second alarm, came in at 12:05 p.m. on the 200 block of Melvin Avenue, which is located near a landfill, an FDNY spokesman said.
No injuries were reported and there was no spread of the fire to nearby structures, he said.
Firefighters had the blaze under control at 1:23 p.m.
