“With more than five feet of snow on the ground in many areas, the FDNY wants to do our part to help our neighbors in Western New York quickly get free from the effects of this deadly and crippling storm,” Fire Commissioner Daniel Nigro said. “These members of the Incident Management Team, Special Operations Command Task Force and Disaster Assistance Response Team represent everything that is great about New York City and make the Department proud.”

The Buffalo region experienced a record seven feet of snow last week, trapping people in their homes. As the weather warmed over the weekend, responders became concerned about the possibility of flooding and roof collapses.
